Community involvement
Our school values strong partnerships with our families and community. Parents and carers can get involved through our Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) or by volunteering at our school. Your time and support help make our school a better place for everyone.
Parents and Citizens Association (P&C)
Our P&C is a group of parents, carers and school community members. They assist with school planning, fundraising, events and volunteering. Our P&C works in partnership with our school to promote the interests of our school community.
Joining the P&C a great way to meet other families, get involved and contribute to our school's future. We would love to have you on board!
Join our P&C
The Burren Junction P&C Association membership cost of $10.00 per family or $5.00 individual. Meeting dates are set at previous meetings and will also be notified through the school’s newsletter. All members of our school community are encouraged to attend these meetings.
Your support of P&C fundraising activities is encouraged and appreciated.

School Council
Our school proudly has a strong parental involvement with a very active School Council made up of parents and interested community representatives, who meet twice a term. The core role of School Council is to provide a confidential forum for community decision making in the planning process at our school, and to encourage the cooperation and closer links between the school and its community. School Council support the principal with school planning, including budget and procedures , review, and monitoring. School Council comprises a mix of parent, staff and community representatives, and is specifically made up of:
· Principal
· President P&C
· Up to 5 elected Parent Representatives (1 elected by P&C)
· Up to 2 elected Staff representatives
· 1 appointed Community Representative

Meetings
These are held twice a term.
Volunteers at our school
All volunteers are required to fill out a declaration for child-related workers.The declaration is to be completed by prospective volunteers, seeking to be engaged in child-related work that involves direct contact (face to face, online or physical) with people under the age of 18, where this contact is a usual part of, and more than incidental to, to the work. This declaration will be supplied at the beginning of each year. Volunteers are required to hold a WWCC Number for Volunteers. As part of this process, the school office staff need to sight identificaiton prior to commencement of your first volunteer work. Helping out at school is a great way to get involved in your school community.
Volunteer opportunities include:
helping in the canteen
getting involved in the P&C
listening to children read in the classroom
volunteering on sports days and other school events
helping supervise excursions.
