Stories and highlights
There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.
A year at our school
Clean Up Australia Day
Our school participated in Clean Up Australia Day. We put on gloves and used bags, both provided by the Clean Up Australia Day organisation, to beautify our school environment. Whilst our students already to a great job in keeping our school grounds clean, it was amazing to see how much ‘hidden’ rubbish that our students found! Year 5 and Year 6 students led small teams of students and took charge of an area each and did an amazing job.
Anzac Day
Our Year 6 Parliament do a beautiful job of leading the march and the ceremony in the School of Arts Hall.
Education Week and Book Week
Thank you to all families who came along to our combined celebrations of Public Education Week, the Book Week character parade and our Father’s Day breakfast. Whilst it took a bit of time to get the barbeque going, the celebration went splendidly. We celebrated our love of literature through dressing up as book characters - and how fabulous did the Year 6 Parliament look as M&Ms! Each class also shared their writing as part of our Public Education Week celebration, and it was great to see all students coming up and proudly presenting their work to the assembly... this is a wonderful reflection of this years Public Education Week theme, “Ignite your potential.”
Grandparents Day & Rememberance Day
Tuesday 11 November, our school held a Remembrance Day ceremony at 11am, expertly led by our Year 6 Parliament Ministers. We invited along Grandparents and Grandfriends, to celebrate Grandparents/Grandfriends Day with a special morning tea, followed by an extended recess during which our students joined their grandparents/grandfriends in playing “old time” games, which included marbles, ring toss, pick-up sticks, cricket board game, and naughts and crosses. Thank you so much to all the nans, pops and grandfriends who came along - we hope this to be the first of an annual event at our school.
"We love our school for its supportive community and commitment to every student’s success. Our child feels safe and inspired every day.” — a parent of Burren Junction Public School
